CHILTON is a hamlet, partley in Brixton [Brighstone] and partley in the Mottistone parishes, a mile south-west.  | 
At Brighstone Grange there is a station of the  Royal National Life Boat Institution. The first boat was placed here in 1860 ; the present boat, the 'Brothers Brickwaood,' was placed here in May 1907, in lieu of the 'Joe Jarman,' and is the fourth stationed here ; more than 300 have been lives saved by these boats.  |
