CALBOURNE is a parish and village with a station 1 mile north from the village on the Freshwater, Newport and Yarmouth railway, about 5 miles west-by-south from Newport and 5 south-east from Yarmouth.
The Caul Bourne rises in the parish.
The church of All Saints is a building of stone in the Norman and Gothic styles, and consists of chancel, nave, south aisle, north transept, north and west porches and a tower : the church was thoroughly restored in 1842, at a cost of GBP2,550, and affords 264 sittings.
There are remains of two British villages in the parish.
Sir John Walter Barrington Simeon bart. J.P. is lord of the manor and principal landowner.
The area is 7,573 acres of land and inland water; the population in 1931 was 757, including part of NEWTOWN, which was transferred to this parish from Shalfleet, March 24, 1889, for civil purposes, and 583 in the ecclesiastical parish.
