BLACKWATER, 2 miles west of Arreton, is on the road from Newport to Niton, on the river Medina, and has a station on the Southern railway. The church of St. Barnabas, also a chapel of ease to St. George's, Arreton, is a small iron building, consisting only of nave and a western turret containing one bell: there are 80 sittings. There is a Methodist chapel. |
