WROXALL is a hamlet in the parish of Newchurch, 2 miles north from Ventnor, 8 south-east from Newport, and 10 1/2 from Ryde, having a station on the Ryde and Ventnor railway; it is increasing in size and importance, and has now the appearance of a small town.
The church of St. John is a chapel of ease to the parish church of Newchurch, and was built in 1875 by public subscription, from designs supplied by T. R. Saunders esq. of Ventnor : it is a small cruciform stone building in the Early English style.
The Primitive Methodists have a small Chapel here (also designed by T. R. Saunders esq.), and the Bible Christians have also a chapel.
