Naval ships produced by J. Samuel White's

- nowhere near a complete list, most of the info has come from the Internet -
so treat it with caution !!

Two of the web sites I used to compile the info on the warships were uboat.net and (lemairesoft.sytes.net:1945/weben/ship/edito/9855.html - (no longer on-line, 2018), both seem to have a lot of info. I've tried to identify other Internet sources by adding a link to the right of the vessel detail.

Special thanks to Tony Richardson for allowing me to use the information he compiled.

The dates refer to variously the date the ship was launched or commissioned - different sources seem inconsistent.

Some pictures of the more modern ships are shown on this page.

Other lists :- Lifeboats - Private and Commercial vessels

In 1803 Thomas White moved, with his family, from Broadstairs in Kent to Cowes. Over the following years, Thomas and his sons ran individually and in partnership various shipyards at East and West Cowes. It was in 1860 that all the yards were combined under the name 'J.Samuel White'. So, strictly speaking, vessels built before 1860 were produced by shipyards operated by members of the White family, not by 'J.Samuel White'.
